The internationally-recognised route — for coaches who need the ICF credential
For coaches who need the ICF credential specifically — whether for corporate contracts, international work, or personal career goals — The Coaching Academy's ICF-accredited diploma offers the same school, the same community, and the same business training as the AC pathway, at a higher price point that reflects the additional ICF accreditation requirements.
TCA holds dual ICF and AC accreditation, which is relatively uncommon in the UK market. The ICF pathway delivers a clear route to both ACC and PCC credentials — the two most commonly required levels in corporate and international coaching roles.
The ICF credential is genuinely valuable — and sometimes essential — in specific contexts. Corporate coaching contracts with major UK employers and multinationals often specify ICF. Global coaching platforms typically require it. Coaches working internationally will find ICF more widely recognised than the AC credential alone.
For coaches building a UK-based private practice, coaching individuals rather than organisations, the ICF credential is a powerful signal of credibility but not always a prerequisite. The AC pathway may be entirely sufficient — and represents significantly better value for that use case.
TCA's ICF accreditation is at Level 1 (previously called ACTP). This means graduates can pursue the ACC credential directly, and can progress to PCC with additional coaching hours and a separate application. Providers offering ICF Level 2 (previously ACTP with PCC track) allow direct PCC application without additional requirements — Animas and Barefoot both offer this, at a higher price.
For most coaches, Level 1 is entirely sufficient — the majority of professional coaches hold ACC credentials and work extremely successfully within this level.
"The ICF pathway at TCA is the most cost-effective route to an internationally-recognised coaching credential in the UK — undercutting Animas and Barefoot by over £2,000 for comparable ICF access."
If you're uncertain whether you need ICF specifically, start by reading our accreditation guide and considering your intended client base. For most UK coaches building a private practice, the AC pathway is the better value proposition.
